The Diopsys NOVA-TR VEP Vision Testing System is a non-invasive medical device used to objectively measure neurological responses of the entire visual pathway. The test does not require dilation or sedation. The NOVA-TR is the only objective visual testing device capable of evaluating the entire visual pathway available today. Most insurance plans will pay for this test.

How it works:  After positioning three sensory pads on the patients head, an operator initiates the test. Then stimulus is presented to the patient on a video display. The clinician may vary the stimulus size, frequency, contrast, time, or eye tested. The results may then be displayed to generate a profile for each eye (displaying responses to several size stimuli), or comparing response to therapy.

Who are we testing and what are we testing for?

We are testing children six months of age and older, patients following a neurological event such as a traumatic brain injury, stroke, or a degenerative process such as multiple sclerosis in order to detect visual deficits such as optic nerve disorders, severe refractive errors, and other problems that could lead to amblyopia, or decreased visual function.
